Ever since we moved in to this house, I have wanted to do something with the closet in our bedroom. We went as far as taking off the closet doors so that we could paint them... and that was about 8 or 9 years ago! Yikes! I finally bit the bullet on February 13th and just started moving stuff out of the closet and drawing up plans for what I wanted.

I'd already pulled out my hanging stuff, but this shows what we've had. Pretty basic. |
We've have lovely popcorn ceilings in our bedroom, but I figured if we were re-doing the closet, that we might as well get rid of them in there first. They scraped off really easily and after patching a few holes, we were ready to prime.
On the 15th, we bought MDF to make shelving and went out to my parent's hangar and used their big table saw to cut the wood. Our table saw is so small that it's hard to get accurate/straight cuts. (Thanks, Mom!)
I finished painting on the 17th - It took quite a few coats to get it where we were happy with it, but it looks good now!
We were trying to use up what paint we had on hand, so we opened a brand new can of ceiling paint that we've had sitting in storage. Unfortunately, we mixed in the tint that they use for ceilings that is supposed to turn white after it dries - but it didn't turn white! We had a pale blue closet instead! We had to go out and buy more paint and do a couple more coats so that the closet would be white!
We set everything into place and got the closet rods installed late that night (17th) and let it sit for a while before we loaded everything back in. We even installed a new light fixture (that I love!).
We got new doors and painted them on the 22nd and then, today, we got them installed!! Hooray! (Now to just paint the knobs!) We put in the baseboard molding too.
The final product. We even have empty shelving! Goes to show how little clothing I have!
So happy to have this project completely done. Love, love love it!
