General Conference

I was excited for General Conference to happen this month.  With a new prophet came a solemn assembly, and I was looking forward to getting the opportunity to stand and sustain President Nelson.  I really wanted the kids to take notice and recognize how special it was to get to participate in this event.  Emma did great with listening and paying attention.  Ben, on the other hand, decided to be angry and 'bored' that he had to watch general conference.  He refused to sit still and was a pain to be around!  So frustrating!  I was still very touched as I stood and sustained President Nelson, especially when I saw how touched he was too.

As conference continued, I finally got Ben to calm down and snuggle with me.  He still isn't feeling great, but he really just wanted to be spending his Saturday playing with friends or watching something on the iPad... and when that didn't happen he had a temper tantrum.  The last half of conference went considerably better than the first half!

We took the chance during the two hour break to get started on a house project, and we got the door and window in the dining room framed out with white molding.  We are going to make a chair rail and paint the bottom half white (similar to what we did in the front entry).  We ran out of molding, so I'll be making a trip in to Lethbridge on Monday to get more.  It's looking good though!  Nothing like finally finishing a project 7 1/2 years after we added on!

The afternoon session of conference was good, although our Apple TV box quit working downstairs, so we had to race upstairs and mirror it from our phone onto the tv in our bedroom.  The kids were  happy to stay out of our way and let us watch.

I ran a few errands afterwards, got some groceries we needed and then stopped in to the book store for their Ladies' Night.  I got a couple books that will be fun to read with the kids when we go to Nauvoo this summer and then got a free audio book of Elder Uchtdorf's new book.  I saw Katie Sykes while I was there and we had a good visit.

I got home just in time to make dinner for the kids and Lennard went to our bedroom to watch the Priesthood Session.  We were eating when I heard Lennard let out a yell, so I went to investigate.  It had just been announced that Elders Quorum and High Priests were now going to be combined into one Elders Quorum!  I ended up watching the rest of the meeting with him.  It was an amazing meeting!  It will be interesting to see how quickly our Stake gets all the changes made.

It's been a great day.  I look forward to studying the talks more in depth when the Ensign comes out.  I'm looking forward to tomorrow's sessions.

Poor Little Boy

Ben woke up in the middle of the night gasping for breath.  He was so panicked that it was hard to get him calmed down.  We tried sitting outside with him in the cold for a while, but it didn't help.  I ended up taking him down to the ER and, thankfully, they took him right in.  He had a chest x-ray and his throat swabbed and then they got him some steroids and antibiotics to help him breath and start to heal.  We were home by 1:00am and he was able to sleep the rest of the night.
He woke up feeling fine, so he wanted to go to school.  Lennard thought he'd be fine, but I wasn't so sure.  It was less than an hour before his teacher called and said that he wasn't feeling well, so I ended up going and bringing  him home.

I was touched when I came into the living room tonight and saw Emma reading to Ben.  He still isn't feeling great, so it was kind of her to help him out.

Airplane Progress

Lennard has been thoroughly enjoying getting pieces closed in and finished on the plane! He took off work on Monday and worked all day on the plane.

After school today, Emma had Activity Days, but then we headed out to the airport.  I brought taco soup out to the hangar and my parents came and had dinner with us.  The kids were pretty proud of their 'table' that they made!

Easter Egg Hunt

Lennard flew to Wetaskiwin with my dad this morning as part of a Flying Club Fly-Out. While he was away, I took the kids down to the Remington Ctr for their annual Easter Egg hunt. It was just as crazy as it usually is.  The kids were in the front, so they got quite a few eggs, but there were kids who didn't get any.  I was so touched to see the kids sharing their eggs with other kids without prompting.

Festival - Jr. Choir

Emma performed with the CES Jr. Choir in the Festival today.  They did such an amazing job that the adjudicator really sang their praises.  Emma has learned a lot being in this choir.

Festival

The kids performed in the Rotary Music Festival with their classes today.  They both did such a good job! I was glad that I got to go watch them, since I had to work at the school in the afternoon.
Grade 1

Grade 2
The inspection happened today... and he passed!  There was only one rivet that he had to change.  Pretty amazing for all the hundreds of rivets he's done.  He immediately started closing pieces up and made quite a bit of progress this afternoon.

Busy Day

The airplane inspection has been rescheduled for tomorrow, so Lennard took the day off to prep for it.  He got a bunch of the parts opened and ready this morning.  We went out to lunch together at A&W and then got more stuff done before the kids got home from school.

My parents came over for dinner and FHE tonight.  The kids were so excited to get to play cards with grandma and grandpa.

Change of Plans

We ended up with a big change of plans... the inspector started out this morning but the roads were so bad that he turned around and went home.  When we found that out, my parents asked if we wanted to go to Calgary with them for Will's birthday party!  We gathered up our swimsuits and headed to Calgary.  Thankfully, the roads to Calgary weren't too bad.  We met them at the Village Square Leisure Center to go swimming and everyone had a blast!  I wish I'd got some pictures, but I locked it in my locker.

After swimming, we headed to Dave & Nysha's and had pizza and Will opened presents.  The kids had so much fun playing together.  They don't get to see these cousins very often, so it was great to spend some time with them.

Will gave the kids goodie bags that had mustaches in them.

It was such a fun day!

Inspection Preparations

The pre-cover inspection for the airplane is tomorrow so we spent a bunch of time at the airport taking pieces off the wall where they've been stored and getting them all layed out and ready to be looked at.  Lennard is pretty excited for this next step in the building process and we both hope it goes well tomorrow!

(F)amily (H)angar (E)vening

I got called in to work at the school for the first time today!  Initially it was for the afternoon and then within a short time I got another phone call to see if I could come in the morning for a different EA.  I ended up being in Grade 1 and Grade 3 in the morning and then kindergarten (one-on-one) for the afternoon. I'm also booked to sub in the afternoons tomorrow and Wednesday.

For FHE tonight, Lennard took the kids flying!  They've been asking for months and months and finally the weather (and everything else) cooperated.  They had a blast... and so did Lennard!

Date Night

We went on a date tonight!  My parents took the kids for a sleepover and we went to Lethbridge with our friends to the Great Escape again.  We did "The Reentry" room and were so close to getting out.  We went out to dinner at Moxie's afterwards.
I feel so blessed to have such good friends.  We needed this night out.

New Sink

Ben had a playdate right after school at his friend's house (Nolan) which worked out well, since Emma had a doctor's appointment.  I was hoping we'd get in and out quickly, but it didn't happen!  I ended up having to have Lennard come switch me off so that I could get to my interview at with the School Division.  No sooner had I left than the doctor finally came (of course).

My interview went well... and I was hired on the spot.  I left a blank cheque with them and now I just wait to get called to come in and sub!

We've been talking about putting in a new sink in our trailer for a while now.  I found one on-line that I was pretty sure would work, so I ordered it and it arrived today.  The box was so huge that I really had second thoughts about my measurements!  Ha! Ha!
Thankfully it will work! The only part I didn't really realize was that we had to cut the hole larger at the back than I'd thought.
We got it all measured out and Lennard cut the countertop so the sink would fit in properly.
We'd bought a new faucet at IKEA and got it installed too.  I love that I now have one large sink instead of two smaller sinks that I could get a pot or a pan into.
This is the old sink (I didn't get a before picture).  It's just plastic and somehow a hot pan had got put into it and melted a bit of it.  I'm excited to have the larger sink! We still have to hook up the plumbing underneath since we had to re-do a bunch of it, but it looks so much better!
The kids had fun playing with all the snow at the airport while we worked on the trailer.
I had to laugh when they thought they could use the huge chunks of snow for snowballs (I did stop her from throwing it at Ben...)

Happy Birthday

We had a family dinner in Lethbridge this afternoon.  It is Brendan's (21st) and Mindy's (38th) birthday's today!  It was fun to sit and visit with those who could come and the kids had fun playing with their cousins.

Daddy-Daughter

I love seeing how much Emma loves her daddy.  She has been in to 'doing her makup' lately and thought it was hilarious when she left lipstick lips on Lennard's cheek.  Sure do love these two!
