Owie!

Emma ended up with her first real 'owie' Sunday evening.  I was cleaning up after dinner and had the dishwasher open putting stuff into it.  Just as I was backing up, Emma walked behind me and bumped into me.  She lost her balance and landed on one of the drawer handles in the island.  Thankfully it was only a little cut, but since it was a head wound, there was blood everywhere!  I was glad we were able to get the bleeding stopped and that it wasn't anything major.
Sorry for the blood on her onesie... it's amazing that there wasn't more on her!  She actually did amazingly well and was up and running in no time!
Here's what it looked today.  I'm shocked that she wasn't bruised up at all.  She loved having the band-aid on it - though she called it her 'sticker'.

This Week

We have had a busy week!  I've been out to 'Stay and Play' with the kids on Tuesday and Thursday.  My sister, Shauna, came out on Tuesday and we played with some digital scrapbook pages to get her going on her youngest son's baby book.  I've ended up watching Doodlebops; Monkey See, Monkey Do; and Thomas a few more times than I would like, but they're just now starting to actually watch TV.  It's been a bit of a break for me, though I still can't leave the room without my 'shadows' following me!

Lennard and I got an afternoon/night out on Wednesday (Thanks for babysitting, Mom!).  We went to Lennard's alumni meet and greet for RCS (his high school) that was being held in Calgary.  It felt a little weird being out by ourselves.  We were able to go see the new temple that is being built in Calgary and then visit with my Aunt for a while before we headed downtown.  We met in a lounge at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel.  It was quite loud and only really set up for small groups of people to talk, so we just ended up standing and gabbing most of the evening.  Lennard really enjoyed it though.  He got to see a few people he'd graduated with that are now living here in Alberta.  Afterwards, we went out to dinner together and, after a bit of a mess up in the kitchen, ended up with free meals and a $40 gift card to eat there again!  Sweet!  Nothing like getting paid to eat their food... especially when the food was excellent! (Just took a while to actually get it!)

Last night we went in to Lethbridge with the kids and went to the RV show.  We had to laugh at some of the prices!  We definitely won't be getting a new trailer any time soon!  Yikes!  One trailer we looked at we asked what the financing was on it... only $150 a month... for 15 YEARS!  Give me a break!  Who would want to finance a trailer for that long?!  Not me!  It ended up being a bit of a gong show with the kids, as Emma did NOT want to stay by us.  She kept taking off and then giggling when we chased her down.  What a little stinker!

Tonight, we'll have another night out!  A night at the temple with my sweetheart is a nice way to end the week off... as long as we can both stay awake during the session!

This and That

The other day when I was busy getting lunch ready, I looked around to see what the kids were doing and found Ben like this!  He was sitting so nice and quiet (doesn't happen very often) 'reading' a book! As a 'book-aholic', I love seeing my kids love books!  I also have to laugh every time I look at this picture - I love Ben's little wrinkled nose!
Last night we had white chicken enchiladas for dinner.  Ben ate them right up, but Emma took her time.  Just as Lennard, Ben and I were done eating, she decided that she wanted to eat.  We let her sit at the table and eat...and eat!  She had quite a bit and was asking for more, so I put more on her plate and continued to clean up.  The next thing I knew was that Ben was helping himself to his sister's dinner!  It was hilarious to watch!  At first he would stand beside her, reach up and grab a bite from her plate.  Then he climbed up on the chair, reached out and took her fork!  Before long, he had grabbed her plate away from her as well and was shoveling the food in as fast as he could!  I just had to laugh... especially when I saw this expression on Emma's face!
This morning, Emma 'helped' me make bread!  She had a blast... once she figured out that flour really doesn't taste that great by itself!  We had flour everywhere, but she thoroughly enjoyed 'spanking' the bread!

Scrapbooking

For my birthday this year, I got the gift that keeps on giving... a year subscription of 'Photoshop Friday' templates!  Each Friday I get a new template with ideas and new techniques that I can use for my digital scrapbooking.  I haven't done a lot of scrapbooking lately, so I thought this would be an easy way for me to accomplish my goal of completing at least one scrapbook page a week this year.  Here are the first two pages that I've done this year.  Nothing too crazy, but at least they're done!

Beautiful Girl

Emma is growing up so fast.  She is talking up a storm and repeats everything she hears!  We're definitely finding out what words we say more often than others.  She thinks everything is 'funny', especially when she does something that she knows she shouldn't do.

We dressed her up for church in the new dress and tights that she got from B&T for Christmas.  She definitely got the comments about her cute dress!  She loved the pom-poms!
She definitely has some mischief in those eyes!  What a little dolly!

Sister's Weekend

On Friday, as soon as Lennard got home from work, I headed out to my mom's house for our annual Sister's weekend.  I was really looking forward to getting a bit of a break, and it didn't hurt that the weekend landed on my birthday!  Best birthday present ever!  Time with my sisters and mom, good food and, unfortunately, not nearly enough sleep!  I don't remember the last time I was up (by my own choice) until 2 AM, but I had a blast!

Friday night we had a good dinner of chicken honey-lime enchiladas and spanish rice (thanks, Melissa), as well as LOTS of snacks!  We played the Wii, visited and watch the movie '17 Miracles'.
(Love you, Shauna!  You can always find a way to make me smile!)
Saturday was more of the same... hanging out, games, food.  It was just nice to have a break from the routine and get a chance to really sit and have some girl time!

My sisters/mom surprised me with a birthday gift too!  It was a Willow Tree figurine called "Forget Me Not".  It has 8 'forget-me-not' flowers for each of the girls in our family!  It also is a good reminder of Elder Uchtdorf's talk entitled "Forget Me Not".  It definitely made me feel appreciated!

I had originally planned on staying over Saturday night too, but I ended up going home so that I could attend church in our ward.  Lennard got a new calling as a counselor in the Elders Quorum.  We did go back out to my parents after church though.  Mom made us dinner for my birthday!  It was definitely a good weekend!

Prayers

Every night we attempt to say prayers with Emma and Ben.  Each night it gets more and more 'entertaining'.  Emma is usually pretty good.  She runs to her room, kneels down, folds her arms and waits for us (most of the time).  Ben, on the other hand, refuses to kneel... and if we can get him to fold his arms it's a really good night!

Tonight was an exceptionally good night.  He sat (which is better than him standing on his head or doing sommersaults in our arms), folded his arms, and was quiet!  Maybe it does get better with repetition!  Here's hoping!

I just have to say... he's just so darn CUTE!  I could just eat him up!
