Well, we sold the truck this morning! They came and picked it up before lunch. We'd planned on going in to Lethbridge (just Lennard and I) tomorrow morning to look at a truck that Lennard is interested in, but before 11:00 Lennard was on the phone to me asking if we could go this afternoon!
Emma had an appointment in Lethbridge this afternoon anyway, so we ended up pulling Ben out of school too and we all headed in at noon. After Emma's appointment, we headed over to the dealership. We took a quick test drive and the kids thoroughly inspected all the nooks and crannies.
Lennard was like a kid in a candy store. He was (is) SO excited. We headed back to the dealership and started negotiating. We managed to get them down a bit... not as much as I wanted, but Lennard was happy. We got all the paperwork started and then headed over to the bank to get the money.
While all this was going on, we got an e-mail from our contact at the bank that we've been dealing with telling us that interest rates are going up tomorrow... so we quickly called her back to try to make an appointment with her to get a few things sorted out that we've been working on.
We also were on the phone with our insurance agent getting insurance for the truck and going back and forth with that! Whew! Amazingly, our insurance is going to go DOWN with this newer truck! (Tell me how that works?!) I'm not complaining though!
We got back to the dealership, got everything squared away and we were off! With all this going on, the kids did so great to play nicely and not interrupt while we got everything squared away.
We'd just pulled in to Costco when we got a call from the gal at the bank saying she could fit us in if we came right then. We jumped in the truck and headed over! She was so amazing fitting us in and staying late to get things sorted out for us. With the changes we made, we managed to save just over $200 a month... even with the added payment for the truck. Not bad!
We grabbed dinner at Costco, got a few groceries and then headed home. Of course, the kids wanted to ride in the new truck with dad, so I had a quiet trip home by myself. As I pulled into the driveway, Lennard was already showing off his truck to the neighbors and putting on his New Brunswick flag licence plate. I'm glad he's so excited. It's going to be very interesting to see how it pulls the trailer.
The new truck is a 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel...and according to the spec sheet it can pull almost double what our other truck could! It doesn't have as much storage as the other truck (because the other one was a mega cab), but we'll just have to figure out where to put stuff and make it work.
Congratulations on your new truck, Lennard!
