We told the Primary kids that if they would bring their scriptures to church that we would have a party. Well, they did their part so we had to fulfill our promise! We had a Scripture Quest for them. As each child came in, we asked them who their scripture hero is. They got to dress up and then I took pictures of each of them. I asked Ben who his hero is and he said, "The bow and arrow guy". Not sure who that is... but he liked the bow and arrow apparently! lol
Emma says her hero is Mary - but she wanted to dress up as a shepherd. Then, they were split into groups: Nephites, Anti-Nephi-Lehies, Zoramites and Jaredites. Each child got a homemade satchel. We had them rotate to different stations.
1) Noah's Ark - where they got to make an animal mask
2) Fisher's of Men - the missionaries talked about the apostles being called and the kids got to do a fish maze, play pictionary and get a bag of goldfish as a treat
3) Stripling Warriors - each child got a balloon sword and had a battle
4) Tree of Life - after hearing the story, the kids were blindfolded and had to follow the iron rod to the tree of life where they got to take a fruit snack and a glow stick (iron rod) off the tree.
After they'd done each activity, we met in the gym and they got to make their own 'Jonah and the Whale' treats with graham crackers, icing, and candies.
It was a lot of work and I was pretty tired when we finished, but the kids had a fun time and I hope learned something too!
