Sick Boy

Benny hasn't been feeling very well for a few days, but when I came into the living room this morning to find him asleep like this, I knew he really wasn't doing well.
I moved him and immediately he just curled into a ball and kept sleeping.  I felt bad that I needed to wake him up, but Lennard was out a the airport and I had to go to a baptism for one of the Primary kids in our ward.
When I got done at the baptism, I grabbed some Subway sandwiches for lunch and took them out to the airport.  Ben was burning up and just crying when we tried to get him to eat.  I finally just gave up and loaded him into the van and took him to the ER.  Thankfully, they got him in right away.  He had a temp of 103.
We were only there for under an hour, but they managed to get his fever down a bit and prescribe him some antibiotics for a bad case of bronchitis.  Poor boy.  He was just happy to curl up and snuggle the rest of the afternoon.

Another Project - DONE!

Ever since we moved in to this house, I have wanted to do something with the closet in our bedroom.  We went as far as taking off the closet doors so that we could paint them... and that was about 8 or 9 years ago!  Yikes!  I finally bit the bullet on February 13th and just started moving stuff out of the closet and drawing up plans for what I wanted.
I'd already pulled out my hanging stuff, but this shows what we've had.  Pretty basic.
We've have lovely popcorn ceilings in our bedroom, but I figured if we were re-doing the closet, that we might as well get rid of them in there first.  They scraped off really easily and after patching a few holes, we were ready to prime.
On the 15th, we bought MDF to make shelving and went out to my parent's hangar and used their big table saw to cut the wood.  Our table saw is so small that it's hard to get accurate/straight cuts.  (Thanks, Mom!)

I finished painting on the 17th - It took quite a few coats to get it where we were happy with it, but it looks good now!

We were trying to use up what paint we had on hand, so we opened a brand new can of ceiling paint that we've had sitting in storage.  Unfortunately, we mixed in the tint that they use for ceilings that is supposed to turn white after it dries - but it didn't turn white!  We had a pale blue closet instead!  We had to go out and buy more paint and do a couple more coats so that the closet would be white!

We set everything into place and got the closet rods installed late that night (17th) and let it sit for a while before we loaded everything back in.  We even installed a new light fixture (that I love!).
We got new doors and painted them on the 22nd and then, today, we got them installed!!  Hooray!  (Now to just paint the knobs!)  We put in the baseboard molding too.

The final product.  We even have empty shelving! Goes to show how little clothing I have!
So happy to have this project completely done.  Love, love love it!

Date Night

We had such a fun night tonight!  We invited Cody & Shannon and James & Dina to come with us to 'The Great Escape' in Lethbridge.  We were locked in 'The Mine' room and had to figure out clues and puzzles to try to get out within 45 minutes.  We were SO close too!  It was a blast.  I wish I could share some of the things we had to figure out, but we've been sworn to secrecy!

After our attempt at escaping, we all went out for dinner at Firestone.  We seriously had so much fun visiting and eating good food.  We'll have to go again in the near future!

Meal Planning

I was asked a few months ago if I would teach a class on meal planning at a Relief Society activity. It's been a long time since I've talk an adult class, so I was a little nervous about how it would go. I also wondered if I'd be able to fill the time.  I mean, really... make a list of meals, put them on your calendar and buy the groceries for the meals.  Done.  Right?!  Thankfully, it went really well and I filled the time and didn't stumble over my words too badly!  I hope that those in the class will actually implement something that they learned, but even if they didn't, it encouraged me to get a little more organized.  I have so many projects on the go that I sometimes drop the ball on meals. After preparing for this class, it has made me realize that I just need to follow what I already have set up and we'd be good.  I am looking forward to adding a few extras to meals that I've rediscovered after pulling out all my recipes, etc.  So there you go... I got taught as much as those who listened to me!
