Trucks

Well, we sold the truck this morning!  They came and picked it up before lunch.  We'd planned on going in to Lethbridge (just Lennard and I) tomorrow morning to look at a truck that Lennard is interested in, but before 11:00 Lennard was on the phone to me asking if we could go this afternoon!

Emma had an appointment in Lethbridge this afternoon anyway, so we ended up pulling Ben out of school too and we all headed in at noon.  After Emma's appointment, we headed over to the dealership.  We took a quick test drive and the kids thoroughly inspected all the nooks and crannies.

Lennard was like a kid in a candy store.  He was (is) SO excited. We headed back to the dealership and started negotiating.  We managed to get them down a bit... not as much as I wanted, but Lennard was happy.  We got all the paperwork started and then headed over to the bank to get the money.

While all this was going on, we got an e-mail from our contact at the bank that we've been dealing with telling us that interest rates are going up tomorrow... so we quickly called her back to try to make an appointment with her to get a few things sorted out that we've been working on.

We also were on the phone with our insurance agent getting insurance for the truck and going back and forth with that!  Whew!  Amazingly, our insurance is going to go DOWN with this newer truck! (Tell me how that works?!)  I'm not complaining though!

We got back to the dealership, got everything squared away and we were off! With all this going on, the kids did so great to play nicely and not interrupt while we got everything squared away.

We'd just pulled in to Costco when we got a call from the gal at the bank saying she could fit us in if we came right then.  We jumped in the truck and headed over!  She was so amazing fitting us in and staying late to get things sorted out for us.  With the changes we made, we managed to save just over $200 a month... even with the added payment for the truck.  Not bad!

We grabbed dinner at Costco, got a few groceries and then headed home.  Of course, the kids wanted to ride in the new truck with dad, so I had a quiet trip home by myself.  As I pulled into the driveway, Lennard was already showing off his truck to the neighbors and putting on his New Brunswick flag licence plate.  I'm glad he's so excited.  It's going to be very interesting to see how it pulls the trailer.

The new truck is a 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel...and according to the spec sheet it can pull almost double what our other truck could!  It doesn't have as much storage as the other truck (because the other one was a mega cab), but we'll just have to figure out where to put stuff and make it work.

Congratulations on your new truck, Lennard!

Webster Gals Reunion

I had planned on being able to attend the Webster Gals weekend, but then Lennard ended up having to work (at his second job).  It made life a little more complicated, since Emma had a bunch of stuff going on on Saturday.  I happened to see my friend, Crystal, at school on Friday and when she asked what I was doing this weekend, I told her about the reunion. She offered to take Emma and Ben for the evening so that I could go!  What a wonderful friend!  I dropped them off about 4:30 and headed out to Mountain View.

We just sat around and visited for a while and then Aunt Laura brought dinner in for all of us.  It was fun to get to see those who came.  I didn't stay too late.  Lennard had picked up the kids at 7:00 and I came home about 10:00.  It is both Shauna's and Melissa's birthday's tomorrow, so we sang happy birthday to them this evening.
Saturday morning, Lennard was at work by 7:00 and we were able to hang out for a while until we got Emma ready for her dance class in Mountain View.  Ben was excited to get to play at Grandma's house.  We dropped Emma off at dance and then headed to the house... but she wasn't there.  I soon got a phone call saying that they'd just finished breakfast and that we wouldn't be making lunch for a while.  We went up to visit with everyone instead and Ben wasn't very happy about it.  He ended up sitting on my lap playing on Grandma's phone.
For some reason, I only took one picture (of Shauna & Melissa) all weekend.  Someone else snapped this picture of Ben and I.  Mom and I quickly made lunch for everyone at her place and then the kids and I had to leave just as they were starting to eat.  Emma had a birthday party at the hotel pool at 1:45 and we still had to get her changed and a birthday present bought and wrapped!

Lennard got home from working for Simplot and had just enough time to get showered, changed and up to the church for a Ward Council Leadership meeting.  I got Emma from the party at 4:00 and then had to get everyone fed and cleaned up so that we could go to the adult session of Stake Conference.  I had Morgan come over and babysit for us and surprisingly Emma didn't freak out!  Hooray!  They had a fun night with her and we enjoyed Stake Conference.

Truck for Sale

After some discussion, we finally decided to sell our truck.  It's been a great truck for us and we've gone lots of places in it (Oregon/Washington/BC; St. George, Utah; Nauvoo, Illinois... just to name a few!).  It has a few quirks right now and we know that they will only get worse as the time goes on.  It also is at the max for what it can pull and with more trips planned in the future we want to make sure we don't wreck another engine!

We've listed it on Kijiji and the local Buy and Sell and have already had multiple calls about it!  Hopefully it will sell quickly...because Lennard is anxious for a new (to us) truck!

Spring Concert

It was Emma's Spring Concert tonight.  They did a great job! She has learned so much this year.

I tried to upload a video but they were all too big... we'll have to find another way to share.

Another '20-minute' Project

Ever since we'd added wainscoting/molding to our front entry I've wanted to do something to our dining room.  The paint had got ripped where we'd had a map put up and we didn't have the correct paint to do touch ups... and I just wanted something different.  We had some extra molding so we started putting it on the wall.  The installation went super quick... it was just the patching and painting that has taken longer.  We started last Friday, but finally got going on the painting today.

It's taking a lot more paint to cover than we'd expected.  We've already done 3 coats and will definitely need another couple coats to finish off, but it's a good start and I love it!

Easter Package

It's been a super busy, fun day today!  It all started with Emma actually sleeping in her bed ALL night!  She didn't even wake up until 6:45!  Hooray!

Lennard had an appointment in Lethbridge this morning, so we got to tag along. We got some more molding and I got the things I needed for our next Relief Society activity.

I got a bunch of errands done and then when we got home, there was a message from Greyhound in Pincher Creek saying that there was a package there for us.  As soon as lunch was done, we headed out.  The roads were horrible! We managed to get there and back in one piece and the kids were extremely excited to get to open the package.

B & T managed to do it once again and found perfect gifts for the kids.  Thank you!!

Happy Easter

The kids were so excited when they woke up and discovered that the Easter Bunny had visited!
There were Easter eggs hidden all over the living room.

Once they found the Easter eggs, they got to open a few presents.
Emma was SO excited for a comic book!
Ben didn't see anything else after he found a Lego kit!

The kids were both excited for some new Spring shorts.
 Even Buddy got some gifts!
