Soccer Season

We signed the kids up for soccer this year and today was their first day.  They were so excited!  It was a little chillier than I’d thought it was so their hands were freezing and I will need to find some sweatpants for them.  They thought the shin pads were strange, but they had a lot of fun kicking the ball around.  It was a bit of a gong show trying to get all the kids sorted into teams and get t-shirts handed out, etc.  The junior ‘coach’ was so soft spoken that the kids didn’t have a clue what he wanted them to do.  We spent the entire half hour just playing with them… which is fine for the first time.  I just hope they learn something more in the future!  The funniest comment we had was when both Emma and Ben asked if they could tackle!  They’ve watched too much rugby!  Ha! ha!

At the end of the half hour, one kid from each team was chosen as that team’s superstar – and Emma was chosen!  She was more than thrilled to get a medal.  Ben was a little sad, but we just kept telling him that he will get a turn too.  (They have to bring the medal back next week so it can get passed on to the next kid.)
