Date Night

We convinced my parents to take the afternoon off work and go with us to Lethbridge to the RV Show.  Emma has managed to stay in bed all night for a week so this was her ‘date night’ as her reward.  She was so excited that Grandma and Grandpa got to come with us.

We spent the afternoon wandering in and out of all the different trailers.  The kids loved every minute of it and I think my mom and dad had fun too.  We found one trailer especially that caught their eye.  It was definitely very nice (so was the price)!

After we’d gone through more trailers than we could count, we decided to go get something to eat.  Unfortunately, we hadn’t thought to make reservations anywhere.  We wanted to eat at Ricky’s Grill, but it would have been over an hour wait and the kids couldn’t wait that long.  We called The Keg, but they would have been at least 45 minutes wait too.  We then decided to try out the Shanghai for some Chinese food.  We’d heard others say that they really enjoy the food there, so we figured we’d check it out.

We should have known that it wouldn’t be super food when they couldn’t figure out what table to sit us at.  Then when we did get to a table, it was so wobbly that it moved every time you bumped it. We got water and put in our order, after some discussion as to how big the ‘large’ wonton soup really is.  Within a very short time, Emma accidentally spilled her water… right into our laps!  Lennard was on the outside and I was in the middle, so I couldn’t get out!  I managed to grab the table cloth and try to divert the water a bit, but I was soaked and so was Lennard.  With all the craziness, not one waitress came to help.  I finally got up, walked up to the front of the restaurant and asked for a cloth to clean up all the water.  The gal went in to the back, picked up a cloth, looked at it, put it down and then came out with a handful of paper towel.  Gag.  I cleaned up as best as we could and set the wet paper towel at the end of the table.

Then came the wonton soup.  The waitress had said that it wasn’t very big, so we ordered two.  It came out and one would have been enough.  Oh well.  We’d told her that we would be sharing it, so she brought two more bowls… but no spoons!  After waiting and waiting I finally got up again and asked for spoons.  Not the best way to start out a dinner!

The rest of the food came shortly afterwards and while it wasn’t the worst I’ve ever eaten, it definitely wasn’t the best by any stretch of the imagination.  We definitely won’t be going there again.
