We got everything cleaned and packed up this morning and headed to our next campsite in Waldport. Some of the roads were a little interesting as they were quite narrow and curvy. We had to laugh when there were huge trees right by the road...guess they don't like chopping trees down, even if it means a wider highway!
We got set up just after 1:15, had some lunch, played with some Lego, and then attempted to go play at a beach.
Emma was overtired by then and had a complete meltdown when we told her that she couldn't wear her swimming suit. She was crying and screaming and wouldn't calm down. We all got loaded into the truck and headed out. Unfortunately we forgot the sand toys, so that started a whole other meltdown. We all melted down then and Lennard turned around and headed back to the trailer to get the toys.
We finally got everything and started out again. Of course then the kids fell asleep! We attempted to find a lighthouse that I'd heard about, but we couldn't find it. We turned around and Lennard found a beach across the bridge from where we are camped. We woke the kids up and brought the toys down to the beach and they got right in to playing in the sand. Neither of them wanted to go in the water initially, but eventually they got there socks and shoes off and had a lot of fun. Lennard took them out to get some water in their buckets and a crazy wave caught them. Emma was not impressed! Both kids were soaked almost up to their waists!
We played for quite a while after that. It was quite windy and a bit chilly, but it was fun all the same. We stopped at a grocery store on the way back to the trailer and got some steaks to grill for dinner. Then, while it was cleaning up, Lennard took the kids over to the playground to wear them out some more!
I'm sure we'll spend some more time at the beach tomorrow!
