On the Road Again!

Happy Father's Day!  Emma was up at 5:50, although after she crawled in to bed with us, she went back to sleep for an hour. Ben came in at 7:00 and when I couldn't move for fear of squishing one kid or the other, I finally gave up and got up!

Lennard slept for another 45 minutes or so. When he did get up the kids were VERY excited to give him the cards we got for him. After a lazy breakfast, we finally got on the road by 9:45 (really 8:45 B.C. time).

Our first stop was at the Spokane temple. It is one of the small temples and the gates were all closed because it is Sunday, but it was still nice to see it.

We had lunch at a rest stop and let the kids run for a while. Then, after another fuel stop, we found the Columbia River temple. It is beautiful!  Thankfully the gates were open, so we were able to walk all the way around it. Ben fell asleep before we got there so we didn't wake him up.  Lennard stayed with him while Emma and I went exploring and then Emma got to be the tour guide for Lennard. She was quite intrigued with the fountain out front and asked me if that if where they did baptisms!

We had planned on staying in Kennewick, but we decided to keep going. I think if Lennard had known how crazy the winds were going to be we might have stayed. It was crazy. By the amount of windmills we passed, I can only guess that these kinds of wind were normal for them. We started looking for a campsite and I found one on the app again. We got to the Memaloose State Park at 6:45. It is a beautiful campground. After 7 1/2 hours of driving, anything would look good, but this is a treat. There is a park within sight of the trailer that the kids have played on all evening with their "friends" (anyone they happened to meet). It has been great for them...and us!

Tomorrow should be a very short day, so it will be a nice change.
