"Interesting" Day

We decided to go to the Portland Children's Museum this morning. We got going in good time and arrived just after it opened. The kids were very excited to go play and after playing in the sort of entryway area, we headed in to the water area.

They had a lot of fun there for about ten minutes and then Emma needed to go to the bathroom. I hurried her out and found the bathroom where she thought the kid size toilets were awesome!  We had just headed back out when we met Lennard carrying a dripping Ben. I thought he'd soaked himself in the water room, but unfortunately he'd peed himself.

Of course I hadn't brought any extra clothes, so we were stuck. Lennard thought about driving all the way back to the trailer, but it would have taken him over an hour to get there and back. We punched into the GPS to show where the nearest clothing store was and it said that there was a Gap store two kilometres away. We headed that way and quickly ended up in very narrow, steep streets. We finally got to where the GPS said the store would be, but we couldn't find a Gap store. We parked and went in to the Levi store, but they didn't have any little boy clothing and informed me that there weren't any stores nearby that sold children's clothing!

The clerk mentioned as we were leaving that there was a Goodwill store a block away, so we headed there. We walked down the block and found the store, but when we started looking for kids clothes, there was only a handful of shirts and NO pants!  Seriously!  We ended up searching a bit more and eventually found one pair of pants, unfortunately they were girls sparkly jeans!  Guess what he ended up wearing the rest of the day!  Poor boy.

We got back to the truck and got Ben changed into the dry (girls) pants. Then we found out that they were too big!  What a ridiculous morning!  I finally found a paperclip in the truck that we wound through the belt loops and twisted enough to hold his pants up!  Ridiculous!

We finally made it back to the museum, but by then it had filled up considerably. There were kids everywhere. The kids still had lots of fun. Lennard and I both agree that the children's museums in Omaha and Salt Lake were way better. Ben loved the trucks, trains, ambulances, and the construction area. Emma played with makeup, clay and went grocery shopping.  It was fun to see them have fun at so many different things.

At lunch time we decided to call it quits and go somewhere else for lunch. Lennard remembered seeing a Chuck E. Cheese on the way, so we headed that way.  We found it without any problem and the second we walked through the doors the kids went wild. There were so many different games and rides. They had a deal on for tokens so we got a large pizza, drinks, and 100 tokens for $20!  The kids (and Lennard) had so much fun trying all the games and rides. They played for hours!  It was the best!

Afterwards we went to check out the nearby Camping World and got a few things we'd been wanting to get for the trailer. The kids were exhausted by then and fell asleep on the way back to the trailer. Thankfully, we got them transferred from the truck into the trailer and they stayed asleep. They both had a good nap.

We finished off the day with a good dinner and then another Harry Potter movie with popcorn and licorice for snacks. It's been an interesting day!
